Nikki: I approve your message! It’s an anachronism! The founding fathers felt the average citizenry wasn’t smart enough to make such a weighty decision back in the day!

Perhaps if it were managed properly you would have a different opinion? The Electoral College (along with a few other steps) was designed to keep the infiltration of a Parasite Group (Tea Party) who through use of a National Party gained Power and then claim Martial Law into affect.
Eventually bringing about a one week coup.
Our Forefathers saw how perverted British Parliament had become and the heavy taxation levied here. While the King of France sent us help he was losing his throne to a new party called the “Third Estate” which represented the common man and woman. Both Spain and Portugal’s Royal Courts and ability to govern had been in turmoil over a century. The Electoral College was formed for several reasons: To Protect the Government from being overthrown, to protect against the rise of a Parliament Structure, and especially to not only protect your right to vote but that your vote did count.

Sometimes the “intent” of the EC is misunderstood or taken advantage of. Ours certainly is not a perfect voting process. When they remove Partisan Polling Supervision with a neutral one. When people are arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law for hampering people from voting. When the “Dirty Tricksters” are caught and they too are arrested for trying to alter YOUR machine tabulated votes over to their party. Then perhaps — we can review the need for the EC and/or revise it?
    Just a thought.

Well said, Randy! And thank you for your clarification. To be honest, I really don’t know that much about our election process beyond the fact that I find the mud–slinging super-annoying and that people get a little too emotional for my taste when it comes to politics. I guess, in the end, who am I to argue with our founding fathers? If I were leader I am pretty sure the US would be something more like Napoleonic France or something equally irritating. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
