Legs by Sketchers Shape-Up Shoes!

These are not Shape-Up shoes and I don’t recommend 9″ heels for exercising!

A few years back I wrote a short blog about my legs (or at least I think I wrote one – if not I was seriously thinking about it!) wherein I mentioned that I walk 3 to 6 miles a week in order to keep them looking long, trim, and sexy.  What I did not mention is that I had purchased a pair of Sketchers “Shape-Up” shoes to see if they would actually make a difference in my workout routine.  Two years later I can now present you with my assessment.

What I have discovered about Shape-Ups is that they are great for exercising when you can’t commit to a lengthy routine.  I have very little time to spare in my day, but the way these shoes are designed they pretty much give your legs and butt a considerable workout even if you are standing still.  It is important to remember that the effectiveness of Shape-Ups is in how you use them – be sure to read the instructions in order to maximize their exercise effect.  Just as important is that you have to actually put in a little effort to see any benefit – sure, wearing them around the house is better than nothing, but the real difference will be seen after you walk around the neighborhood a few times.

Being constantly unbalanced is easy to get used to, but be sure to practice around the house before going on a walk in these babies!  That being said, my girlfriend is a little accident-prone and I was terrified when she first started wearing her Shape-Ups, but when I saw her moving around with ease I can give them my seal of approval for safety.

Finally, there is the issue of cost.  At $100 a pair you might as well just go to the gym.  However, I have noticed that you can purchase Shape-Ups at $30 now, so that makes them a perfect addition to your workout arsenal.

In conclusion, I can say that Sketchers Shape-Up shoes are Nikki approved.  Yes, I am aware that following a FTC investigation Sketchers agreed to pay $40 million to consumers for falsely advertising the above benefits (http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2012/05/consumerrefund.shtm), but I am here to tell you that they work – you simply need to use them as suggested.  Besides, just look at my legs in the above photo – wouldn’t you agree that they are doing a great job?
