Merry Christmas, Everyone!

Bath time for Santa's little Elf!

Christmas is just around the corner and 2.1 billion Christians around the world prepare to celebrate the birth of their Lord and Savoir.  Though I disagree with the overly commercial aspect of the holiday, I do love how it brings people together and provides us with at least one day of the year when we can all set aside our differences and love one another equally.  Better than nothing, right?

Let us enjoy sitting by the fire (except in Hawaii and maybe Florida) and listening to carols while basking in the glow of the lights on the Christmas tree.  This year, however, lets see how long we can keep the Christmas spirit going.  Lets all love one another and forgive ourselves and each other for past misdeeds.  Let mercy and charity reign in our hearts and actions.  Let us make this Christmas the beginning of a new era of human existence by turning our attention and resources away from war and greed and start working towards a unified planet with a singular goal of scientific and religious progress.  We can be better, and I think it is time for us to be so.

Okay – that’s my soapbox speech for the season!  I wish you all the most wonderful Christmas ever and that the year 2012 will not spell the end of humankind (re:  Mayan prophecy) but rather the beginning of a wonderful new age of reason and progress!!!
