Important Retraction: Congress

Enjoying the benefits of the 2nd Amendment

We all know I retain a great deal of disdain over Congresses’ inability to work together to better our country.  In all honesty, however, it was extremist of me to declare an intentional avoidance of an agreement on the debt ceiling as being “treasonous.”  Our members of Congress work hard to represent the interests of their constituents and deserve recognition for their efforts to keep America strong and moving in a positive direction, even though at times it may seem otherwise.

It is important to bear in mind that our Representatives and Senators are privy to a bewildering variety of impressively unpleasant information that we will never hear on the nightly news, and the decisions they make based on that information would most likely render us mere citizens physically ill.  We do not know what goes on within the sound-proof rooms of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees or any other closed-door sessions that keep us all safe from harm.  We do not understand the stress our representatives face when deciding from what domestic program they must divert finances in order to bolster security at foreign nuclear storage facilities to prevent terrorist access (I’m being speculative).  Without a doubt, I can say that these brave men and women have very, very important and difficult jobs, and due to their efforts our lives are a heck of a lot easier than they would be otherwise.

Regardless of party or conviction, our elected officials in Washington are all patriots as they are doing what they feel is best for the people and their country, and deserve recognition for their work as it is much harder than the cushy jobs of us bloggers complaining from the tranquility of our homes.  So thank you, Representatives and Senators – keep up the good work!
